At 3:27 a.m. on October 24, multiple Eugene Police officers and a Springfield Police K9 responded to Alpine Heating and Air Conditioning, 4747 W 11th Avenue, after a prowler was reported. Two men were in the secured yard and were breaking items and taking property. The yard is surrounded by a chain link fence and razor wire. One man, John Russell Druckemiller, age 58, of Eugene, was caught inside the secured yard with his arms full of copper wire, while another, Scott Foster Ching, age 59, of Eugene, was apprehended after he jumped over a fence and while he was putting his head through the razor wire. During the investigation, officers found the two had damaged a Geothermal Heating unit and wrecked fencing.

Ching was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained when he put his head through razor wire while trying to exit the property. He was cited in lieu of custody for Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Theft in the Second Degree, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree

Druckemiller was transported to Lane County Jail on charges of Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree,  Attempted Theft in the First Degree, Theft in the Second Degree, warrants.
