On April 25, 2024, multiple officers and Eugene Springfield Fire responded to the intersection of River Road and River Avenue for the report of a two-vehicle injury crash. Both vehicles involved were totaled in the crash. The intersection, including northbound River Road, was closed for some time.
Officers learned that one of the involved vehicles, operated by Andrew Allen Soper, ran a red light at a high rate of speed and collided with the other vehicle involved. Both drivers were injured in the crash and transported to RiverBend Hospital. Both are expected to recover from their injuries.
Soper was cited for reckless driving.
