PENDLETON — Umatilla County celebrated its emergency communicators April 14-20 as part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, an observance to honor the seen/unseen dispatchers at the end of a telephone line or a first responder radio.

“I just want everybody to know how much we appreciate all of the dispatchers’ commitment to the safety of our community,” said Sgt. Nicole Kellas, one of three sergeants who lead Umatilla County Dispatch. “We know they are working really hard and always do their very best and we just want them to feel appreciated and seen.”
