PORTLAND — The Pendleton man facing numerous federal charges for the 2022 robbery and shootout at Wildhorse Resort & Casino plans to use an insanity defense.

Court records show Peyton Lee, assistant federal public defender, filed a notice Thursday, July 6, in the U.S. District Court in Portland that Javier Francisco Vigil, 52, intends to rely on the defense of insanity and will provide expert testimony on the issue.
