
Work by EPD Street Crimes Unit yields to arrests for drug delivery, possession
Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit conducted a narcotics investigation that led them to Vaea John Leata, age 29, of Eugene. Leata had been the subject of interest for EPD SCU earlier in the year and was previously arrested in March 2022 by EPD SCU for Unlawful Possession Controlled Substance Methamphetamine (Felony), Assault on a Public Safety Officer, and Resisting Arrest. He had outstanding warrants for this case.
On September 28, 2022, EPD SCU, WWAT, EPD Drone and EPD SIU conducted a search warrant service at 477 Lone Oak Avenue. Upon execution of the search warrant, Leata was placed under arrest for his outstanding warrants. A total of five children and one adult female were inside and exited the residence. The adult female was identified as Shaelee Marie Morrow, age 34, of Eugene. She was subsequently arrested for her outstanding warrants and other charges as listed, below.
During the initial walk through of the residence, officers found a large quantity of methamphetamine haphazardly strewn throughout a bathroom floor and dumped into the toilet. Evidence seized was relevant to distribution charges such as scales and packaging material, as well as distribution levels of methamphetamine. Several functional firearms were seized from the residence, one of which was stolen and associated to a 2021 LCSO case.
